eBay Community to Washington - Don't Pass Big Retail Industry's Anti-eBay Bill

In this time of the RNC & DNC parties and the political election coming this November and getting caught up in all the fun. I got an email reminder from the eBay Government Relations group at http://www.ebaymainstreet.com/ today to remind me there are two other branches of government watching over our eBay fun.

Apparently many large retail stores are lobbying Congress to pass a new “stolen goods” law to force eBay sellers to disclose sensitive personal information on the Internet, including a seller’s actual name, business address and phone number on every listing.

The legislation would also require operators of Internet marketplaces to investigate sellers for stolen goods whenever big retailers raise questions about the price of an eBay seller’s merchandise. These investigations would allow big retailers to grind online marketplaces to a halt. The retail industry is spending millions of dollars on lobbyists and PR professionals to push politicians for new laws that unfairly accuse competitively-priced products online of being "stolen" goods.

Defend your business—and your rights. Contact a Member of Congress today and tell them to reject such retailer-biased, stolen goods laws.

Please follow this link to take part in eBay's Main Street grassroots campaign. In fewer than five minutes, you can send a pre-drafted letter to your elected officials. Let's remind Congress that big retailers may have high-priced lawyers and lobbyists, but real people like us rely on the values available online.

Wii Fit for $55.01 from Live.com search

Okay, I've posted my prediction for the Wii Fit to be this holiday season's big seller on eBay. But you're having trouble finding the Wii Fit to resell. I'll have at least two posts on how to find the Wii Fit.

My first post on how to find the Wii Fit is not a tried and true method for securing a Wii Fit. This method I've only read about live.com and MS live search's cash back offers. I just ordered my Wii Fit today from live.com and I will post follow ups on the success or failure of this method.

So, if you're okay with the chance this will work and the possibility something might go wrong, read on. If you need a more reliable seller and do not like to take chances with this type of thing, please do not read on.

If you're still with me, great!! This is what I did for a Wii Fit for $55

First, goto live.com or http://search.live.com/cashback/products and search on "Wii Fit" and look for the "Live Search cashback" icons.

After you click on the icon, Live Search cashback search for "Wii Fit" and click the compare prices button.

Here you'll find the latest costs and retailers. Below is the list that came back for me.

StoresFree Shipping |Store Price|cashback| Bottomline Price
HotMovieSale.com Yes$91.6940.0%$55.01
Sears Yes$89.994.0%$86.39
Sears Yes$89.994.0%$86.39
Kmart.com No$89.994.0%$86.39
Comp-U-Plus No$168.9912.0%$148.71
Electronica Direct No$179.9916.0%$151.19

I went with the HotMovieSale for $55. My guess is this retailer will take a little longer to arrive and you need to call them to cancel the account that is opened after purchase. But, I figure I have plenty of time before the holiday season and no worries with talking to them on the phone.

*For this deal you have to call to cancel the SmartSavingsCenter Member Services account that opens with this purchase

By clicking 'Submit Order', you agree to the following: You will be given a 7-day free trial to take advantage of all the great savings opportunities that SmartSavingsCenter offers; following the expiration of your 7-day free trial, your credit card will be automatically charged $19.95 per month; you can cancel anytime by calling SmartSavingsCenter Member Services 24/7 toll-free at 1-800-511-6538.

Below is some more information about live search from their FAQ. Live.com is Microsoft's attempt to catch back up with Google search and is giving large money back opportunities thru searching with live.com

Check back for my updates and let me know how this one works out for you.

Q: What is Live Search cashback?
A: Microsoft Live Search cashback is "The Search That Pays You Back". Find great deals on millions of products from hundreds of brand name stores that you know and trust. You will be able to earn cashback savings based on a percentage of the product price. Your savings will be paid to you via your choice of a deposit to your PayPal account, direct deposit to your bank account, or a check in the mail. It's that simple! For the complete program terms and conditions, see the Microsoft Service Agreement.

Q: How do I find Live Search cashback deals?
A: As you search on Microsoft Live Search (http://www.live.com/), look for this icon to let you know that cashback savings are available from Live Search. You can also search directly for cashback deals and participating stores at the Live Search cashback site. Your results will always clearly list the cashback amount and your bottom-line price.

What will be the hot item for the upcoming holiday season?

Here's my prediction for the upcoming holiday season must have item. The Wii Fit. This is an excellent game addition that incorporates exercise with video games. What parent doesn't want their children moving around instead of playing video games on the couch? Of course the Wii has been hard to find the past two holiday seasons and the Wii and Wii Fit could be both good selling items this upcoming holiday season. In my free opinion, stock up and get ready to sell em!

Welcome to my first post on my new eBay help blog

I'm a hobbyist seller/buyer on eBay and I am also the forum monitor for Small Selling Circle for First Timer Sellers forum over on eBay. I thought a blog of questions answered and a place to find me to ask questions would be an extra helpful site. Everyone is more than welcome to join the group, ask questions about eBay, or to find more info on something I'm selling. Feel free to post comments, email, or im and I'll post the Q/A on this blog.

Looking forward to hearing your eBay questions!
